Angel City Press is pleased to announce that it is distributing a selection of titles published by the Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens. "Thanks to the expertise and enthusiasm of Angel City Press, books on the vibrant history and culture of Southern California will now reach more readers than ever before,” says Jean Patterson, managing editor at the Huntington.
The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens is a collections-based research and educational institution serving scholars and the general public. One of Southern California’s oldest book publishers, it began publishing in 1920. In recent years, it has produced more than a dozen books on the history of California and the West, drawing from the institution's rich archive of rare books and manuscripts.
“What an honor it is to add these Huntington Library Press books to the world of Angel City Press,” says co-publisher Scott McAuley. “These fascinating titles are an exciting and academic counterpart to the social and cultural history list ACP has created over the last quarter century.”
The Bruckman Rare Book Friends of the Los Angeles Public Library recently awarded Suzanne Muchnic its John D. Bruckman Award for her outstanding history of the Los Angeles County Art Museum, LACMA So Far. “The Huntington Library Press had the foresight to recognize the need for Suzanne Muchnic’s comprehensive work—a book that’s easy to read and rich with detail,“ says ACP co-publisher Paddy Calistro.
